Recipes for Healing

"Recipes for Healing" is a poignant graphic novel created by the Asian/Pacific Islander Domestic Violence Resource Project (DVRP), designed to address the complex issues of trauma, violence, and community support. This multi-generational journey centers on the experiences of a Lao-Bengali family while also amplifying the voices of marginalized groups, including LGBTQ survivors and immigrants.

The novel carries trigger warnings for transphobia and sexual violence, ensuring readers are prepared for the sensitive content. Special thanks to the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women for their generous funding, as well as to illustrators Shreya Basu and Kim Sandara for their stunning artwork that brings these vital stories to life. Through this powerful narrative, DVRP encourages readers to reflect on their relationships and engage in meaningful conversations about healing and resilience within their communities.
