Artist Highlight: SAFRA

How do you see your art connecting with healing or justice?

ree

My work is a direct reflection of the land defending itself. What I embody through movement storytelling comes from time spent being with relatives (land, human and non human beings), dreams and ancestors that offer me the knowledge about indigenous resistance. Both the viewer and the storyteller go through the healing journey of self acceptance and self radicalization in order to survive this world.

What inspires your art or guides your creative practice?

Creator, radical creatives/activists that came before me and all indigenous peoples who lived happily pre colonial contact

ree

What kind of artistic collaborations are you open to?

gallery/museums, talking workshops, films/tv, making film scores

How can people support, buy, or experience your work?

if you live in the Balitmore area you can buy my spray painted cowboy boots at The Zone Vintage
